So I have decided to purchase a suitable boat, equip it and sail again with a lot of time around the grounds. And since I'm always rushed over Scandinavian grounds, I felt there was an open bill. I spend two years with filming sailing without any rest, and never touched a boat. I eventually bought a Makita 1901 on German ebay, and it should arrive soon. His Varianta 18 with hull number 156 has the name "Digger", he himself calls too. Maybe the supply chain is effected by corona, I don't know. extreme ends of the market and both not worth buying for different reasons. I have looked for a Makita or blue Bosch machine in almost 10 major retailers.nothing. There seems to be a severe shortage of electrische Holzhobel at the moment in Germany. I was hoping to find the normal everyday trusted products from Swertz or Obi hagebaumarkt, but if they sell wood treatment as good as their electrical tools, I will leave my quest there and head online at Toplicht. I was in a timber company the other day, tried to explain what I was after and walked out with a tin of Osmo. In the UK they are known for eye wateringly expensive but great quality boat fittings, but I admit I did not know they might sell wood treatment. I would never have thought of Toplicht, but will look at your recommendations. Thank you gentlemen for your helpful replies. I would be most grateful for some tips, thanks! What do you people use as metal primer? Iron oxide primer? Is there anything better? I have been told Remmers is the stuff to look for? what is the equivalent here in Germany? I'm looking for the stuff that would be used if you took some wood that has been in the rain a few years, and you paint it on a few times to be sure any rot will be killed. I the UK we use Cuprinol 5 Star which is water based, or Barrettine which is spirit (oil) based. only an impregnating rot / worm killing poison. Not a laquer or varnish or a 'weather proofer', or a rotten wood hardener.
Old faithful trusted products.įor a start what is the normal everyday wood treatment prior to varnish or oil? I am looking for biocide rot proofer + worm killer in one hit. I am looking for the products that boat builders and farmers trust, not the boutique expensive products. I am trying to reorganise my wood work here in Germany, and sometimes I need things that I know in the UK but can not find here, so a little help would be very useful.
